NEW JORGE CHÁVEZ INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The inauguration of the New Jorge Chávez International Airport marks a milestone in the history of Peruvian aviation and consolidates Lima as a strategic air hub in South America, strengthening connectivity with America, Europe and Asia. This megaproject not only represents an improvement in airport infrastructure, but also a driver of development: it is projected to generate more than 121,000 direct and indirect jobs by 2025, significantly boosting the country's economy. Its impact was evident from the first month of operations, when the airport handled more than 2 million passengers and operated more than 14,000 flights between take-offs and landings. These results reflect the magnitude and significance of a project that elevates Peru to a new level of competitiveness and global connectivity.
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Koneba has collaborated with Sacyr since the initial phase of the project, actively participating in the engineering area. Thanks to our experience as manufacturers and the strength of our R&D&I department, we have been able to offer a tailor-made solution, developing and certifying a new product specifically for this project.
In the first phase, 168 Kuadron Sky Door double-flap glass vents and 40 skylights were supplied, demonstrating the company's large production capacity.
Subsequently, in a second phase, we undertook the design, manufacture and supply of more than 80 linear metres of Kortex DA Automatic smoke curtains, delivered within a very tight deadline, meeting the quality and time requirements of the project.
Throughout the process, Koneba made several technical visits to offer specialised support during installation, consolidating its role as a strategic and trusted partner in the execution of the project.
IMPORTANCE OF FIRE PROTECTION IN AIRPORTS
Every day, millions of people pass through airports, where air operations, electrical systems, commercial areas and various types of equipment converge, leading to potential fire risks. In this context, fire safety is not optional, but rather a fundamental pillar for protecting lives, ensuring operational continuity, maintaining public confidence and preserving infrastructure.
At Grupo Komtes, we understand that fire safety at airports requires a comprehensive and specialised approach. That is why we support our clients from the engineering phase onwards, offering tailor-made solutions that combine innovation, efficiency and regulatory compliance. We integrate the full range of fire protection solutions, offering a unique approach that combines gas extinguishing, automatic sprinklers and water mist with passive systems such as smoke curtains, natural ventilators and fire curtains. In this way, we ensure comprehensive and coordinated protection that guarantees the safety of people, the operability of facilities and the confidence of those who use them.
